About, er, me.
Kevin Gamble is a graphic designer & web designer, musician, thinker, occasional pontificator & curmudgeon, lover, idealist, progressive, skeptic, and all-around resourceful fellow.
I...er (blasted third-person nonsense) he lives and works in Columbia, Missouri, USA, and managing a stable career in the creative/technical arts in a relatively small place such as this demonstrates that resourcefulness we mentioned earlier. (Oh, now I've slipped into the plural. I'd better just stick with first person from here out.)
Getting further into the professional side of things, I'm creative, technically adept, analytical, and skilled in a variety of design and communication areas. You can learn more by taking a look at my resumé and looking through my portfolio. I'm always interested in creative, interesting work; if you'd like to inquire about that or contact me about anything else, please use my contact form.
About this site.
This site is designed to be something of a catch-all for my interests, ideals, pursuits, and creative work. I undertook a major redesign in the first quarter of 2005, which shoveled out a lot of old clutter and moved the site from the olden days of table-based layout to this one, structured with CSS and XHTML. In the process, I've learned far more than I ever cared to about web-browser bugs and their far-from-perfect implementation of CSS, but I'm glad I saw it through.
As that might imply, this site is hand-built, which means entirely hand-coded by me. No WYSIWYG programs, no prefab templates, no clip art or stock photos. Why, you may ask? Well, that's a good question.
But the technical side of things isn't why this site exists. From a purely selfish perspective, this site functions as a tangible touchstone for me, a collection point and crystallization of my work and ideas. Even more than that, though, this site is a result of the ideas, issues, and things that I care about, that inform my daily life and outlook, that energize and motivate me and challenge me. As this site grows, you'll find scattered throughout (notably in my journal) opinions, questions, and occasional strident statements based on a liberal-progressive outlook on life. This site, then, is a tool for learning about and sharing discoveries about this world. Thanks for coming this far, and I hope you'll feel welcome to visit and contribute.
