The Survival Guide to Junior High
A blast from the past: my first published work, from 1987! Throughout junior high, I had worked with our school nurse on a series of posters addressing health-related issues. When I was in ninth grade, local powers-that-be were apparently satisfied by this work, my artistic talent, and the likelihood of me making it to the finish line of junior high, and so commissioned me to create this comic book. Sponsored by the school district and two local hospitals, the guide was a colorful, light-hearted trip through the pitfalls of health, friendships, peer pressure, study habits, stress, substance abuse, and other issues looming for that age group. The guide was distributed to all incoming junior high students in the Columbia school district for years to come.
